Large caravan awnings have become very useful for many owners as they offer unrivalled space and accommodation. For many people, the caravan space is not enough anymore, so they look to an awning. Comfort is an important factor, and it is vital that the awning extension is a nice place to be. It should be a natural extension of the caravan if possible. The styling and the colour should match the style of the caravan, so that it does not look out of place on the camp site.

Luckily for most caravan owners, the manufacturers design their awnings to be easy to set up. This is probably the most important point when people look for a new awning. There is not much point in having a great looking thing that is impossible to erect or causes endless problems. Quick fit attachments and built in poles make setting up faster and more efficient, and these features are now almost standard. The awning needs to be measured to the side of the caravan and then attached to the rail or gutter near the top.

Some of the largest awnings have a projection size of over three metres, which is plenty big enough for even the largest family. If you buy inner tents you can turn this space into sleeping quarters. An additional annex can also be attached to one or both of the awning sides if more accommodation is required. Most of these annexes use a zip system, which is just about as easy as it can be to fit.

Another advantage of the large awnings is that you can customize them. The front and side panels can usually be taken off or zipped up to create a sun canopy in warn weather. You can configure your space how you want it without too much trouble. The windows can also be taken out to give better ventilation and air movement.

The prices are very consistent between the manufacturers, and most awnings are around the same price bracket if you are buying from new. The only thing you need to look for is the reputation and past quality of each maker. Many caravan owners tend to stick with the same manufacturer, as they get to know how their products work, and become more comfortable using them.
